"Buyer Beware" Ideas for Further Discussion

1. Do you think that disclaimers in advertisements are a benefit to consumers? Do people actually read them? Understand them?

2. Should advertisers be required to make their disclaimers at least large enough to be read by the average person? Or to be displayed on the screen for a minimum amount of time? What good is a disclaimer if no one even sees it?

3. Do you think most people know that many advertisements exaggerate claims about their products? How much responsibility should be on the consumer to verify claims and make their own judgments?
