"Pork Barrel Spending" Ideas for Further Discussion

1. Do you think it is proper for congressmen to try to get more tax money spent in their own states, even if it isn't benefiting taxpayers in other states that must help pay for it?
2. If "pork barrel spending" is mostly done to boost a congressman's re-election chances, do you think something should be done to stop it? How is that different than bribery?
3. Why do you think this kind of "pork barrel spending" continues even though so much of it sounds so ridiculous to the average voter? What can be done to stop it?
